What is the Photon Blade™? Several months ago a gentleman on the forums came out of nowhere to showcase his experiments with photo-reactive material, in his case, acrylic blades, and how they amplify and alter wavelengths. Basically, it works like a diode laser, taking in one wavelength of light, exciting the photons in the lasing medium then emitting a whole new, brighter wavelength of light. In this case, the first color that was a success was the Photon Green. We worked closely with Tim at TCSS and took what we learned from Mr. Lee's experiments with acrylic and applied it to Poly Carbonate extrusions. It took some work, but the results were mind blowing. It has limits: You have to like green blades.

The Photon Blade™ takes a Blue LED and uses that wavelength of light to excite the photons in the dye which converts the color to a super bright, eerie "Rakghoul" green. Regular, or light blue works the best, but any blue will give the effect. It has a unique aura and corona that I've never seen in a lightsaber blade. It is truly unique and will stand out among other green blades. Depending on your set up, it will also be visible in direct sunlight. The UV rays in sunlight actually help amplify this effect and combine with the blade light. Will it look as impressive as it does under normal indoor lighting? No, but you can tell the whole blade is glowing, and you can even see the flicker and Flash on Clash effects. What does all this mean? It means that with the lighting tech we ALREADY have, you can have the brightest green blade in a production saber just by using this blade. There is about a 30% increase in brightness just from changing the blade on our normal RGB Suncrusher LED. Not only that, but it will look different than any other green saber you own or have seen.

Here are some pics though keep in mind, the camera doesn't quite pick up on the unique 'glow' these blades have and the video camera HATED it and was constantly compensating for the brightness increase when I would turn it on. There are two outside shots, one in the full sun, the second in some slight shade.

*NOTE: We do NOT glue our blade diffusion film to the blade. Please be careful when removing the dust cap, and when removing the blade from your saber not to allow the film to fall out. When we first entered this industry, we had noticed several of our competitors glued the film into their blades and had creasing/krinkling of the film right at the point where the blade flexes the most. Saber blades flex, even when just swinging or spinning around. If you keep the film stationary and the blade flexes, the film will crease. Not gluing the film in allows the film to spiral in on itself and flex with the blade. When we developed our blades, we chose not to glue our film in and it turned out that the film will last much longer without creasing. After many hundreds of blades, we can say that this method allows for a long lasting, even blade. We have blades in the house that have seen years of use with no creasing. The only thing is, you have to take care when removing the blade not to let the film drop out and use your included dust cap to keep dust out, and the film in.

Do not buy other Photon Blades!

Other companies sell photon blades, but do not be fooled. The VV blade is insanely bright, very evenly lit, and so vivid in color that it transforms your idea of how good a 3 LED saber can look. You'd almost swear it's a string blade by the beautifully blinding green light. If you want to know why VV is a bit more pricy at first glance, it's because they do not cut corners to meet competitive retail prices. They do competitively amazing work at reasonable prices, You would be surprised how a $500 hilt can feel better, handle batter, sound better, and also duel far better than a hilt twice as much or 10x as much, if that $500 hilt is a VV saber. I only wish VV offered some of the crazy cool hilt designs that cost thousands of bucks like they used to.

A bright and durable dueling blade i'm thoroughly enjoying and will be buying all my blades from Vaders vault in the future.

I used this 1" blade on my NECree RGB blade using a thin-necked HR Sabers Luke Hero. The original standard sanded blade showed too much color differential at the base due to the LEDs being so close to the outside of the emitter. Using this Photon blade. the variations at the base seem to smooth out so it is no longer noticeable.
Plus it gives a much brighter and smoother effect with a soft glow or aura around the blade. Of course, you must choose your colors wisely, as Blue makes green, but other colors will be different, though some can produce a central core effect which is interesting as well. Red, however, is intensely bright - as good as the Green. Seems it amplifies the Red without changing it's color. Green just stays green, but Blue makes a brighter green - more of a lime green. Flash on Clash and Lockups can look spectacular if you set it to flash Red on a green blade.

I also tried this blade with a Neopixel string installed and it was astonishing. A much softer brighter blade than it already was. But again, you have to like lime Green and Red being your main intense colors. The tip comes mirrored, so for strings, I would try to order without the tip so you can hollow out your own tip separately.

Overall it's a fantastic effect if you have a Blue or Red TRI-Cree and want something different.

I had almost a sky blue like color, it wasn't too bad in the dark but definitely couldn't see it well in lighted conditions. This photon blade totally changed the game, coolest green I've ever seen and SOOOO much brighter!

All Vader's Vault products valued at $100 or greater will be automatically insured. This means that all 'Sabers' sold here will be insured automatically. Trust us, if you ever need it, you'll be glad you had it, and so will we. The last thing we want to do is eat something because the shipping carrier lost or damaged it, and we're pretty sure you, as the customer, don't want to be out any money.
